The Cancer Project & Nutrition for Cancer Survivors
September 5th, 2007
I’ve just received an update from Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
“For the second year in a row, The Cancer Project has gathered a group of top researchers from across the country to share the latest news in cancer research. Hundreds of oncologists, nurses, health professionals, dietitians, and Cancer Project Food for Life cooking instructors received breakthrough information about how foods can fight cancer.”
Key highlights were:
* scientific evidence supports the use of a low-fat, plant-based diet and exercise to slow or stop the progress of common cancers.
* Cancer Project’s Food for Life cooking instructors teaching the latest scientific research on cancer-fighting foods and improving their cooking techniques.
To read all about it, go to http://www.pcrm.org/newsletter/sep07/symposium.html
While I was reading I discovered another great resource.
The Food for Life Nutrition and Cooking Class Series helps cancer survivors take advantage of the healing power of foods. Participants are immersed in a world of new ideas and information about diet and disease prevention.
Designed by physicians, nutrition experts, and registered dietitians, each class includes information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote or discourage cancer growth, along with cooking demonstrations of simple and healthy recipes that can be recreated easily at home.
To read more or find classes in your area (USA) go to http://www.cancerproject.org/resources/cooking_class.php
Or Download your FREE 148 page book called The Survivor’s Handbook which is a great guide including recipes.
